For our 10th release we present “Lowlands” the Debut album by Caro.
This is a collection of tracks shrouded in half lit mist, rising and falling in a sonic testament to change. Like natural vapours slow dancing deep in ancient land, Caro’s sonic palette emerges from the Canadian wilderness of evergreens and icy rivers. Crafted with a keen ear for innovative beat-making and soundsystem headspace, the album lifts and drops without formula, reflecting the movement of water, light and air where they were made.
Along with images of intense natural beauty, Caro also gently channels a faraway environment of sprawling concrete hinting at a distant juddering cityscape as glimpses of glacier-cold Drill rhythms appear and then slip away like a late-night passing car in the wilderness

Secret rhythms and harmonics possessed by Caro’s samples are revealed and worked ceremonially into this swampy dope, sometimes with a coolness that lurks in shadow, other times with a rising warmth that lifts you up out of the dank foliage.
Inspired by the artist’s personal experience of their low topography homeland, every track on this tape speaks to a change in perspective and experience, nearly every piece shifts in tone, texture or melody by the end, reflecting the behaviour of the elements throughout the day.

One for soundtracking your exploration of cinematic vistas, and crucial for the fireside of heavily smoked cave ravers. Limbo material through and through from an artist we are excited to support and look forward to their future creations.

In Caro’s own words:

“There’s a sort of mystic quality to low places, everything flows there and by law of nature can’t be destroyed, so it is transformed.
How long it lingers there is different for every thing… pollen swirling in swampy waters, fog coating salty white wash, steam crawling up though the hemlocks. Within a few moments, or a few hours, everythings changed. And it all looks different in the light.”

Low Lands was produced, arranged and recorded entirely on hardware. Caro is non-binary using they/them pronouns, living and making on unceded and traditional Sinixt Territory.
